Description

Tahoe 235 is a converter between G.703 and V.35 interfaces. It has a G.703 port (2048 kbps, unframed) with an RJ-45 connector and a V.35 port with a 34-pin Winchester connector.

The V.35 port works as DCE, i.e. from the router's side it behaves like a modem. A built-in 128-bit buffer compensates for frequency variations of the G.703 signal.

Clocking

Data transmitted over V.35 can be clocked in three ways:

  • by the clock recovered from the G.703 signal (default setting)
  • by an independent 2.048 MHz oscillator
  • by the clock on the SCT(a)/SCT(b) pins of the V.35 connector, supplied by the DTE device, e.g. a router (so-called secondary timing)

Reach

The G.703 receiver sensitivity is selected according to the line length: short haul (-12 dB, up to 50 m) or long haul (-43 dB, up to 2000 m).

The device is small, 100 x 60 x 30 mm, and draws little power.
