WAN Router PCI Cards
Synchronous cards add the functionality of a WAN router to
the regular PC working under control of Linux or FreeBSD operating systems.
Most of networks already have a server used to host a web site, deliver
mail and work as a firewall. There's no need to add expensive and complex
external boxes - just a PCI card is enough. You can insert as many cards, as many free
PCI slots you have - creating a powerful multiport, modular router at
cost not much higher than the PC alone.
Moreover thanks to fast processors installed in PCs nowadays, such a
device would be of a magnitude more efficient than a typical external
router.
More reliability, more functionality, less server room space, less power
consumption and all of this at much lower cost.
Current drivers support Frame Relay, synchronous PPP and HDLC.
